This part is for proper tensioning of the belt on Axle Cam roll Harley Davidson belt driven Motorcycles. These are the same parts licensed to Jims Machining. These parts are sold in the original plastic bags as shipped to Jims in bulk.
(If you have seen the photos of BLACK PAINTED VERSIONS
of the JIMS 970 part - BE SUSPECT - they were original designs. THEY WILL BEND, AND SHOULD NOT EXIST UNLESS THEY ARE KNOCK-OFFs. They were replaced by the part shown.) To set the proper belt tension, the welded axle nut will often rotate as you re-tighten the axle nut. This movement will allow the belt to lose adjustment. Just place Jims 3rd Hand Axle Tool over the welded nut on the belt side with the 3rd Hand bolt resting over the swing arm. LOOSEN THE AXLE SHAFT NUT, With the axle shaft loose - hand rotate (or with a small wrench rotate the adjusting screw ON THE THIRD HAND to set belt tension. Re-Tighten the axle nut on the opposite side – remove and store the tool.
